WHAT IS A HYGIENIST?

Hygienists are highly qualified and trained clinical professionals who must obtain either a Diploma in Dental Hygiene or an equivalent three-year degree course at university and can be seen on a Private basis only.  They work alongside the Dentist playing a very important role in ensuring patients keep their gums and mouths healthy through a tailored programme of maintenance.

WHAT IS AIR-FLOW® ?

Air-Flow is a professional stain removal system that tackles stubborn stains using a special Erythritol powder, air and a gentle stream of water. It is for anyone looking for healthier teeth, healthier gums and a brighter smile. From light staining to more severe stains; Air-Flow significantly improves tooth brightness, giving you a noticeably, sparkling, healthy mouth.

Air-Flow gently and painlessly removes surface stains caused by tobacco, food and drink. You will immediately see and feel the difference. The unit even pre-warms the water to reduce sensitivity.

WHY IS GUM DISEASE RELEVANT?

70% of all adult teeth are lost as a result of gum disease. Gum disease can occur without any symptoms and is also linked to heart disease and diabetes.

As it progresses, gum tissue recedes, exposing the roots of teeth to further attack by bacteria. This ultimately leads to loss of teeth through destruction of bone.

HOW CAN A HYGIENIST HELP ME?

Regular professional cleaning combined with coaching to improve your homecare will ensure huge dental benefits. A clean and healthy mouth improves your appearance and gives you fresh breath. Research has shown that good cleaning significantly reduces the risk of fillings needing replacement, new cavities, gum recession, food trapping and teeth drifting.

Evidence is also available to show that having good oral hygiene is paramount to the longevity of complex dental restorations such as veneers, crowns, bridges and implants.
