WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?
A dental implant is a titanium post that is placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth. It fuses with the bone and serves as a stable base for a custom-made replacement tooth which matches your natural teeth.

WHO CAN HAVE DENTAL IMPLANTS?
We will carry out a thorough examination, taking appropriate X-rays and arrange CBCT Scans if required to see if your case is suitable. It can be dependent on the condition of the bone in the area of the planned implants. Very rarely is there not enough healthy bone for an implant. In such cases, additional treatments such as bone grafting may be required.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
Placing of the implants is carried out at the surgery, involving a simple operation under a normal local anaesthetic. The after effects are similar to having a tooth extracted and therefore you may feel mild discomfort due to the normal healing processes.

We are proud to be able to offer patients the convenience of seeing an extremely experienced Implantologist. Our Consultant oral and surgical specialist Mr Louis McArdle carries out complex and surgical extractions, including wisdom teeth as well as enucleation of cysts, surgical endodontics (apicectomy), implant placement, bone grafting and sinus lifts. He also performs biopsies and takes referrals from dentists outside the practice.
